When it comes to all season tires for snow, you will do notice that their performance does reduce on dry or warm conditions. So while considering to change such tires it is important to change them during summer as they are not built for such conditions. Also, it is important to note that most all-season tires for snow do work well under 7 degree Celsius, a rise in temperature reduces the overall performance of the tires.

  • Can all season tire handle snow?

Most people while buying all season tires, their first exception is that the tire will still continue to perform well even on snow and ice condition. However, this is far from the truth, it will greatly depend on the quality of the tire.

Again each tire has its specific lifespan, depending on the material used. Some have a longer lifespan while another shorter. Also, it is important to note that the lifespan of a car tire will depend on its maintenance. The expected lifespan of a well maintained and quality tire is 4 to 6 years.

  • When buying all season tires for snow, do I need to buy all four or two can do the trick?

    • Hi there,

Thanks for contacting our website and trusting our assessment!

Regarding your question about the best winter tires for your Toyota Camry, the first thing I would say that no winter tire is good for driving in the summer. Handling is less precise and stopping distances longer, but the worst thing is that they will degrade very fast in warm weather. If possible, you should change your winter tires with all-season or summer tires to get the best possible performance.

That said, if you want tires that will perform great in the winter and admirable in warmer conditions, the best tires are usually the premium ones. In my testing, the Bridgestone Blizzak WS80 are the best winter tires in winter driving, especially in the snow. They are also good enough in summer and spring, but as with every winter tire, they will degrade faster in those conditions.

Other excellent winter tires in my opinion are: Michelin X-Ice Xi3 (my second favorite winter tire, very good for warmer weather and with excellent wet traction), Dunlop Winter Maxx WM01, Continental WinterContact SI, and Yokohama BlueEarth Winter.

  5. This is a very good post
I have a subaru wrx which came with summer tyres. I changed to continental viking winter tyre this month. I dont like it a lot. When dry or in raining when temp is above 40F it handles very bad.
In boston area the weather is varying much being in coastal. I need a winter tyre good enough in snow but does not drop performance in a huge way with little increase in temperature.
Which would be a good tyre for that.
    Thank you
