Hannan for President?

"Daniel Hannan for President" reads the banner on the streets of Washington.  Sections of the crowd spontaneously chant his name, apparently.

Now, I know he's nicked the credit for the ideas in The Plan, and done some YouTube stuff, but this is ridiculous.

What about President of Europe?

Well considering many believe we have a President currently who was not born in the US... it rather makes sense. Lots of tea party people really think he is a hero and should move here to run for office.

You would be welcome Douglas as well.

Douglas,

Serious point: with the announcement that the Czechs have now signed the Lisbon Treaty I do think that it is time you and other Eurosceptics stated where you stand.

Are you blindly following this 're-negotiation' and 'retake powers' rubbish that is being suggested, or are you going to come out - like Bill Cash - for a referendum of 'in or out'?

Appreciate the humour of this post, however the time for humour is past.

You and Dan have been the beacons for small government and independence from the EU - time for you both to 'speak out' methinks?

Would that any American conservative politician speak with the clarity and candor as does Daniel Hannan.

Well....we do have Sarah. That's plenty excellent. But Hannan has a remarkable fluency to his non-teleprompted speaking that is sorely missing.

He can't be elected President of the US, sadly, but it would be great to see him some day as the Prime Minister of the UK. That would signal great things for both of us.

Daniel Hannan UK Prime Minister
Ron Paul US President

Now that's a world I want to live in!

Alas, speaking the truth has obviously no appeal to the star-struck, gullible entity commonly known as the electorate. Simon Cowell would have a better chance of being elected. It's all about so-called star power and hollow hype. We are doomed. The media has indeed become the meaning.

Yes, such an idea is ridiculous.

However, Douglas, one cannot believe that Dan Hannan is left languish in the bowels of the beast that is Brussels.

When are you going to persuade him to stand for the Westminster parliament and then run for the top gig on a joint ticket?

As for the poster who writes: "Daniel Hannan UK Prime Minister, Ron Paul US President"... that gets my vote.

...with Nigel Farage as Foreign Secretary, please.

I used to admire Mr. Hannan, but after reading his blog for over a year, I wouldn't vote for him as President. His support of Barack Obama tells me that he has poor character judgment as well as he too easily jumped off the conservative principles bandwagon. And he's a Muslim sympathizer. No thank you!

Agree with Sara entirely.

Daniel Hannan for Prime Minister

Douglas Carswell for Foreign Secretary

Nigel Farage for Europe minister

My dream team!

No way... If there is any job I would like to see him get, it's the Prime Minister of England.

But the conservatives would never accept him. Two reasons. 1. He is too bright and smart and 2. He would have the support of too many Englishmen.
