Mr Heffer should read The Plan

"Our elected representatives [must] start thinking very hard about how we rebuild Britain" writes the august commentator, Simon Heffer, in today's Telegraph.

"If one enters a bookshop in America," he continues "it is full of books on how to get that country off its knees.  If one enters a shop in Britain, it is full of books about our glorious past."

Which is precisely why we decided to write best-selling book The Plan; 12-months to renew Britain get us off our knees.

Our book was written by two elected representatives - an MP and an MEP - because we've been thinking about how we rebuild Britain.  And we reckon The Plan is the way to do it.

It'd make a great stocking filler - and brighten up the New Year, I hope.  For Mr Heffer, or indeed anyone else .....

Fantastic book, I carry it around like Mao's little Red Book, but you see Douglas, I can't vote for it and Dave still believes in the EU, windmills, keynesian economics and the 50p tax rate rather than the plan

Indeed. My brother read my copy, bought his own, and lent it to several friends. They said: "If a party had these policies, we'd vote for it."

I read the book on holiday, in the summer. (a flippin' wet week in Cornwall. Nothing like the 'Med summers' that the warmists have been predicting-I digress)
What struck me was how sensible and obvious the solutions seem. However, that is why they will probably never be implemented. Oppositions, once elected, suddenly find the rules and regulations they opposed on principle are now quite useful in government.
The other problem is that it would require us to leave the EU. That is not going to happen.
Happy to recommend the book though!

I read the plan, and it's the best political tract i've ever read - bar none. some of the ideas were fantastic and i honestly think you and dan hannan are two of the most important thinkers in the country.

if i had any confidence that cameron would actually implement these ideas i would be really enthusiastic about the prospect of the new conservative government. as it is, i'm only happy to be seeing the back of brown, balls and the rest of this incompetent, cowardly and vindictive government.

i remain to be convinced that when cameron has power, and he sees that localism is taking power away from himself, he won't be so keen on 'the plan'.

Part of it is that the British media will (as you imply) at best ignore & at worst ridicule anybody who voices thoughts on real reform. Whereas anybody who wants to declaim about Britain's glorious history will be treated as a statesman (at least as long as he apologises for slavery, the Empire etc). The media take their lead from the BBC.

All our problems are easily solvable but only if we try.

Have you heard that Glenn Beck is also writing a book called The Plan? You should sue ;)

His is a 100 year plan though. Now there's ambition for you.

Really looking forward to the next Tory government so Sky can become more like Fox as per Mr Murdoch's (senior) wishes.

Why do not you and Daniel take over UKIP and the ideas promulgated in "The Plan" and you can form the next Government.

I'm half way through it....Blair and Brown effectively emasculated parliament, will the incoming conservative governement have the bottle to ensure this country is a democracy once again? And yes, I like your book.
