Ignore the nanny state

Minister Andy Burnham will today lecture mums and dads on how to feed their kids. Seriously.

Don't "rush to mush" he'll gush, faithfully regurgitated the PR lines his quangocrats hand him.

I suspect most folk will just ignore Mr B and do what they think best for their families. They'll sense that this government is hopeless at most things; unable to cut immigration or fix our schools or equip our armed forces adequately.

They might even wonder why the Health Minister prefers to lecture them on spoon feeding, rather than, say, fix what seems a terrible mess at Basildon and Thurrock NHS Trust.

Why isn't immigration top of the Tory list?

Will the Tories give healthy food vouchers instead of benefits? Look at any trolley being loaded up with junk food usually a chav family on cash handouts!

We need a serious debate on the role of the state in today's society, it seems nobody has a clue on when its appropriate for it to use its muscle.

I think the minimum price for alcohol idea in Scotland is barmy too, alcohol consumption is a persoanl issue and price fixing is about as bad an economics policy as you can get. Still, they wanted their own chamber so they'll have to suffer the consequences of a scoialist regime.

How did our parents manage without kind, caring people like Mr Burnham to tell them how to bring up their children?

Perhaps he should ask his parents whether they needed the nanny state to tell them how to raise a child who would grow up to become a government minister (if his parents are no longer with him I apologise - but it doesn't alter the fact that they didn't need government help to raise a child).

Please ask the Minister why in Colchester Hospital - Wards designated to treat DIABETICS have "Sweet trolley" visits daily?
As an inpatient for as while I had to help by intervening to stop several Diabetics Pateints from such items! Staff Nurse appreciated the tinely interventions.
So put your own house in order first Mr Burnham!
