Climate change: the market correction continues

"I regret the fact that some members of the research community have dismissed out of hand those who have tried to make a counter-argument" Bob Ward, climate change expert at the LSE, is quoted as saying in the Telegraph following the CRU climategate scandal.

Could this be the same Bob Ward, LSE climate change expert, who declared his "shock" because I dared highlight some of those counter-arguments on this blog?  And who criticised me for promoting "political denial and complacency"?

Surely that is to dismiss out of hand not merely those who make the counter-arguments, but those who suggest that they even exist?

Like I keep saying, the climate change consensus cannot hold.

But Douglas, you're going against the grain of the masses here who have been brainwashed by the BBC. Did you see Question Time last week when that journalist from the Mail argued that climate change was a scam, the audience were having none of it. The slow drip feed of information has worked a treat on the nations psyche.

Your party leader is still on board with it though. Interestingly the BNP is the only party dead set against it, whether they'll benefit when the whole edifice comes crashing down remains to be seen.

Interesting article on the CRU and the demise of science caused by the climate scam:

Time will tell, (but will our representatives be held accountable then for their history of constructive or destructive campaigns?)

Any "scientist" who claims that an issue is settled and that is the end of the matter is no scientist. At the best all one can say is that one has reached the end of possible lines of research and we appear to have a firm conclusion.
For centuries, Aristotelian physics held that all matter is immutable and unchanging, then along comes Einstein who shows that theoretically matter can be changed into energy, giving rise to atom bombs and nuclear power.
No science is ever finalised!

Mr Ward's words here do seem inconsistent with his instruction to you to "accept your responsibility as a Member of Parliament...to help your constituents to understand what needs to be done. Better to do that than to continue to promote political denial and complacency through your blog."

Clearly global warming is a sinking ship which he is distancing himself from. Considering that his job depends on bailing the ship he must be very certain of the size of the holes.

Chefdave - The QT audience is deliberately selected by the BBC to be impartial & we know what the BBC idea of impartiality is - I think the fact that online comments, even in the Guardian, have, for several years run heavily to scepticism, though published letters haven't, is a much better asessment of opinion among those who have opinions.

Thanks mr. Carswell, I feel we really we have a chance when I see there are people like you in the government.

We need to get this investigated very soon, before we fall in the the abyss of the copenhaguen treaty.

thank you

Margaret Thatchers chief scientific adviser Christopher Monckton has an interesting debate here.

Its rather long But it is a big subject. It is a series split into 6 10 minute slices

Delighted to hear that you are not accepting this global warming nonsense, but the question remains, what are you - both individually and as a party - going to do about it ?
Because Jim above is wrong: UKIP is also not taken in by global warming. Cameron's gamble of ignoring his base in order to reach for the "middle ground" is beginning to get a bit dangerous, surely ?

A useful addition to our electricity supplies as the weather turns colder might be to connect "Bob" Ward, the editors of Nature and New Scientist and all the other alarmists to alternators. They'll be spinning fast enough to generate half the country's demand.
One trend I have seen already is to say "Well, they might have fiddled the data showing temperature rises, but we've still got to reduce CO2 or we'll get runaway temperatures". Make it plain that the faked temperature curves mean that the temperature rise no longer matches the shape of the CO2 rise and numerous lines of evidence show that a) CO2 lags temperature and, b) the atmosphere does not work like a greenhouse and although CO2 has a small effect in the lab. its actual effect in the real world is minimal.
