Theresa in Frinton

Theresa Villiers, shadow Cabinet star and all round Good Thing, was in Frinton this evening.

Speaking to our local supper club, she gave us all an update on the Pre-Budget Report and the latest from Westminster.  A great speaker!

I'm sure she's delightful, but your brief description of her does demonstrate one of the current problems with the Conservative party.

I have never heard of Theresa Villers, and can only name three people on the Shadow Cabinet. One of those is only because he is my local MP! You haven't said what her brief is, and your photo doesn't suggest that she is "all round". Not as round as I am, at any rate.

The Labour party is deservedly imploding, but we hear more from Vince Cable than George Osborne, despite the latter being far more likely to be the next Chancellor.

As someone who takes a passing interest in Politics, I should at least know who the Shadow Home and Foreign Secretaries are. Their faces should be immediately recognisable as soon as they appear on a TV screen.

I saw a Conservative called Phil on Newnight last night, but he was overshadowed by Mr Cable, and constantly talked over by the Labour representitive. (Are all Labour MPs that rude? Haven't noticed any polite ones....) I can't remember Phil's last name, only that he was something to do with the Shadow Treasury "Team".

The trouble that the Labour party has caused in the country means that everybody who represents a department should have a long liturgy of things that they can offer remedial action for. You know - the sort of thing that you want us to cast a vote in favour of.

There are many reasons to not vote for the Labour party, but hardly any to vote for the Conservatives.

Does she purchase her own iron as well?

Chris Grayling and William Hague - if you have even the slightest interest in politics you should know this - especially William Hague. Remember the police search of the house of commons?

More studying for you...

John C: You're right, I should have remembered William Hague. I would at least recognise him (although I might forget his brief), which I can't say about Chris Grayling.

However, my point sort of still stands. Apart from David Cameron and George Osborne, the Shadow Cabinet are rather quiet. It's not as though the Country is in fine shape, or there is no General Election on the horizon.

As for the Police search; wasn't that to do with somebody else? A Damian somebody? He hasn't exactly been making waves lately. The fiasco over that seach was the first and last time he's been seen.

@Mick Anderson

You are quite right - it was Damian Green. That'll teach me for trying to be a smart a*se!!!
