Speaking at Trafalgar square rally

I was asked to address today's peace rally in Trafalgar square.  As my name was announced to the crowd, I clambered up the stairs - and looked up.

Then it struck me....

A sea of flags and thousands of faces – all looking at me.  The whole of Trafalgar square a vast, cheering crowd in front of me - all waiting to hear what I was going to say.

I kept it short and to the point. Judging by the cheers, they seemed to like it.

Sharing a platform with our Chief Rabbi, Sir Jonathan Sacks, is a real privilege.

I wish I'd been able to attend the rally near me, in Manchester, earlier today. Good on you, Douglas!

Thanks so much for your contribution and the words you spoke which mean so much to us at a time when we feel isolated and desperately worried about our relatives, friends and co-religionists in Israel. We appreciate your friendship and understanding and like you we are praying that Hamas will cease firing rockets, accept the existance of a State of Israel so a final solution can be made and peace achieved in the region - we want nothing more.
